I liked the beginning of the story and how the dead took in Bod. I think Silas agreed to be his guardian because he may have seen a boy who needed help and thought he could help the boy since he could leave the graveyard to get food for Bod and other things such as books. Silas agreed to help also because I think he did not want to see the boy hurt and knew he was in danger in the outside of the graveyard. I really liked Silas as a character in the book.
